The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given upon high school graduation to students who show proficiency in English and an eligible language other than English.

Some students in grades 4–8 and all 9th-grade students will take an online reading test called Capti ReadBasix this January. This is required by the state’s MN READ Act.

Throughout the school year, SoWashCo Schools may enter into an emergency closure, e-learning day (extended-learning day) or a late start due to bad weather or other situations in which school cannot be held in person.

Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, students in the Class of 2028 and beyond (current 10th grade students) will be required to complete a one-credit (one-trimester) Personal Finance course as part of their high school graduation requirements, in accordance with new state legislation.

SoWashCo Schools is at a critical stage with a bus driver shortage that could result in cancellations or delays for bus routes in the mornings and afternoons.

Beginning at the Oct. 2, 2025 South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) Board of Education meeting, 3 new Student School Board Representatives will be joining the School Board.

SoWashCo Schools recognized Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Staff and students wore orange in recognition and solidarity for our Indigenous communities.
